In a world of impossible things, Nora certainly didn't expect this to happen.
That day had been a treat: Henry was off and there was a new, interactive exhibit at the science museum that Barry hadn't stopped talking about. It was amazing to see how much energy a five year old could have when dealing with things like theoretical black hole demonstrations. But still, that was her son, and the apple of her eye.
So when a volunteer was needed, Barry Allen, in all of his five-year-old strength, pushed Nora and volunteered her to partake in the demonstration of the transport between a singularity instance to another. She had expected lights, smoke, and mirrors.
Instead, she stepped through the other side and into what looked like a crime laboratory.

"I'm sorry, but you can't be..." He starts before looking up and feeling like he couldn't breathe. This was NOT possible. It couldn't be possible. He felt like someone had just punched him in the chest and ripped out his heart. She couldn't be there.

She gives an embarrassed smile.
"I'm sorry. Is this part of that demonstration? I thought it was supposed to just be smoke and mirrors for the kids to get from one side of the room to the other?" she asks. "Not end up here at CCPD. I'll get out of your hair and see if I can get Detective West to give me a lift back to the museum."
The young man looks familiar to her, though. Nora walks toward him.
"Are you all right?"
no subject
He swallows hard before shaking his head.
"No, I'm not alright. You were..."
Dead. She was dead.
no subject
She stops when he swallows and looks genuinely distressed.
"I'm? Do we know each other?"
Nora steps closer and takes a better look at him. He looks familiar but she couldn't quite place her finger on where.
no subject
That's because he was distressed and he wasn't sure if he could even step away from her. This was just... Science fair. Just...
"You were dead, mom."
How was she alive now?
no subject
Mom?!
That sets it into place for her and she really looks at him closely.
"Barry?" She laughs and immediately moves to hug him. "Look at you!" Nora lets him go and holds onto his arms, looking him over. "Just a minute ago, you're just five, now you're--oh."
Dead?
"I'm what?"
no subject
He tenses up when she hugs him but relaxes and feels like she can breathe again, watching her. Yes, the last time he'd seen her was when he was younger. Along with the speed force and just...
"What were we doing when I was five?"
He shakes his head and bites his bottom lip.
"You were dead."
no subject
"There was a new exhibit at the science museum and you really wanted to go. Your father had the day off and so we decided to check it out. I volunteered for a demonstration and next thing I know, I'm here."
She cups his face and her heart breaks. Nora pulls him close for another hug.

"The transportation device."
It comes out soft because he remembers that. Remembers how he'd volunteered his mom for the little science experiment. Something that had amused both of his parents. Then again, he had been an excited little boy.
He leans his cheek into her hand before hugging her back.

She knows better than to ask about the future. What happened, how she was murdered.
"Then let's enjoy this time together. Are you a detective, like Joe? Is that why I'm here?"
no subject
"No. I'm not a detective like Joe," He tells him with a shake of his head. He leans back a bit and gives her a soft smile," I'm a CSI. Go to crime scenes and find whatever evidence they need."
no subject
"I guess this means Henry has a point in getting you a microscope." She shakes her head as well. "But I keep telling him that you're only a child, you don't nee that broad spectrum microscope yet. Maybe when you're older."
no subject
"Of course dad has a point in getting me a microscope," He says with a bit of a laugh, shaking his head. "You need to start me off young, mom. Though even if you and dad don't, it won't stop how smart I am."
no subject
She chuckles at that.
"Barry, there was never any doubt about how smart you are, as long as you keep that good heart of yours."
no subject
"I don't think that's even possible," He tells her with a bit of a chuckle. "Not after the stuff you and dad taught me."
